Engineering Project Manager

Position Responsibilities

Project Management – 60%

  • Project management in product development projects according to FISBA project management methods
  • Responsible for engineering, prototype and production cost quotes
  • Responsible for internal projects and process development related to optical manufacturing, characterization, prototype and demonstration projects
  • Responsible for customer prototype projects
  • Lead on engineering projects
  • Provide phone and on-site customer support (technical and otherwise) in conjunction with sales, for RFQs, open orders and development projects
  • Manage costs, processes, resources and schedules in a goal-oriented manner
  • Mitigate risk to reduce costs due to technical issues farther into the project
  • Responsibility through the offer and project management phase, until acceptance or handover, including project reporting
  • Foster customer communication with the goal of building long-term customer relationships
  • Special tasks as assigned by the Managing Director

Production / R&D – 40%

  • Support the Optics Manufacturing Supervisor and Optics Technicians regarding prototype process development
  • Assist with prototype planning and deliverables once a customer order is received
  • Assist with mold tool and preform design optimization for increasing yield
  • Ensure standard work instructions are in place throughout production, including optimization of measuring new product tolerances
  • Provide guidance as an expert user of machinery, such as those used in tactile measurement, interferometry, centration measurement, 3D printer, etc.
  • Create, review and approve project closeout reports

Experience/Competencies and Education

Experience/Competencies

  • 3+ years in technical project management, optical engineering, related engineering, optical manufacturing or combination of related experience
  • Experience in sales flow processes
  • Outstanding attention to detail and passion for delivering work to the highest standard
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to foster relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Creative, passionate and entrepreneurial approach to creating new, and streamlining existing, processes
  • A true multi-tasker who can manage multiple projects, well-organized and motivated
  • Positive attitude, self-sufficient, and confident; takes own initiative and can work independently
  • Quick grasp, connected thinking, independent, flexible, communicative, assertive, responsible, team player and reliable
  • Analyze data sets according to principles of computer science, mathematics and statistics
  • Proficient in MS Office and SolidWorks

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Project Management, Optical Engineering, Business Administration, related engineering, or an equivalent combination of experience and training
